AURORA - X(chi) - (2017)

 

ITA: X (Chi) è un album strumentale nato nel 2017, dopo la parentesi turbolenta e densa di significato vissuta tra il 2015 e il 2016. Con questo progetto ho ripreso a divertirmi con la musica: a mixare generi, sperimentare, lasciarmi guidare dall’istinto. Al suo interno convivono brani più ritmati e altri più chill, ballate, ambientazioni ricercate accanto a tracce più semplici o apertamente sperimentali. In tutto il disco si respira una voglia nuova di leggerezza, il desiderio di tornare a godersi la musica e la vita. Anche in questo caso, la scelta del titolo e della copertina non è casuale. X (Chi) richiama la ventiduesima lettera dell’alfabeto greco: quel “Chi” tra parentesi è un rimando alla pronuncia greca della X, inserito per rendere il titolo più ricercato e personale. Dal punto di vista simbolico, la X è uno dei cromosomi sessuali, spesso associato all’identità femminile. Nel totocalcio indica il pareggio tra due squadre. Per me rappresentava proprio questo: i miei lavori del 2015 e 2016 che si erano “scontrati” senza che uno prevalesse sull’altro. Due fasi vissute entrambe con intensità, senza un vero vincitore, ma solo verità difficili da accettare. La X è anche il simbolo dell’ignoto, dell’indeterminato. Ma può essere, al contrario, il segno di un punto cruciale, di una svolta. Ho voluto giocare con questo dualismo per esprimere il momento in cui mi trovavo: sospesa tra ciò che ero stata e ciò che stavo diventando. Se sono solo X — qualcosa di ignoto e indefinito — allora posso andare ovunque.

ENG: X (Chi) is an instrumental album released in 2017, following the turbulent and deeply meaningful period I experienced between 2015 and 2016. With this project, I began to enjoy music again — mixing genres, experimenting, and allowing myself to be guided by instinct. Within the album, more rhythmic tracks coexist with chill pieces, ballads, carefully crafted soundscapes alongside simpler or openly experimental compositions. Throughout the record, there is a renewed sense of lightness — a desire to return to enjoying both music and life. Once again, the choice of title and cover is not accidental. X (Chi) refers to the twenty-second letter of the Greek alphabet; the “Chi” in parentheses is a nod to the Greek pronunciation of X, included to make the title feel more refined and personal. Symbolically, the X is one of the sex chromosomes, often associated with female identity. In sports betting, it represents a draw between two teams. For me, it reflected exactly that: my works from 2015 and 2016 “clashing” without one prevailing over the other. Two phases lived with equal intensity, without a true winner — only difficult truths. X is also a symbol of the unknown, the undefined. Yet it can also represent a crucial point, a turning moment. I wanted to play with this duality to express where I stood at that time — suspended between who I had been and who I was becoming. If I am only X — something unknown and undefined — then I can go anywhere.
