ITA: Metamorphosis è il sesto full album delle Rorua e, già dal titolo, si presenta come un progetto costruito attorno all’idea di trasformazione: non quella “da copertina”, immediata e spettacolare, ma quella più vera, che avviene a strati, mentre continui a vivere, a ricordare, a ricadere negli stessi pensieri e poi—quasi senza accorgertene—ti ritrovi diversa. Prima dell’uscita è arrivato il singolo di supporto suspended, accompagnato dalla b-side Strange confession (Faint Echo pt.2) e dalle rispettive versioni re-immaginate. Nel complesso, tolte le tracce già note (suspended e strange confession, insieme alle re-immaginate della fan-club edition), i brani completamente nuovi e originali sono 13. la title track del progetto, Shining Storm, dà il tono emotivo dell’album con un’immagine potentissima: la tempesta che brilla. È un brano che parla di ciò che si agita sotto una superficie apparentemente calma, del diritto di essere complessi e contraddittori, della forza silenziosa di chi ha imparato a contenere il caos senza smettere di sentirlo. Il mare, la salsedine, il sole e le nuvole non sono solo scenari: diventano linguaggio interiore, metafore di tutto ciò che si può nascondere persino “in piena luce”. Da lì deceptive imagination porta il discorso su un dubbio ancora più radicale, quasi esistenziale: sto vivendo davvero o sto solo convincendomi di farlo? L’immagine del pianeta che brilla di luce riflessa trasforma l’identità in un’orbita, in un moto ripetuto che a volte rassicura e a volte soffoca, mentre la distanza tra ciò che si sente e ciò che si riesce a dire resta un nodo costante. Just a Silly Thing sposta la lente sull’empatia e su quel confine delicatissimo tra comprensione autentica e minimizzazione. È una canzone che difende il dolore—anche quello che gli altri chiamano “esagerazione”—e insieme si chiede quanto sia difficile, oggi, essere davvero presenti per qualcuno senza scivolare nei ruoli, nelle frasi di circostanza, nelle semplificazioni che fanno più comodo di una verità scomoda. Con Harmful habits torna l’immaginario costiero e contemplativo, ma l’obiettivo è diverso: qui il mare diventa lo spazio mentale in cui riaffiorano vecchie credenze, ricordi che graffiano, abitudini che si ripetono anche quando vorresti smettere. È un brano che guarda in faccia ciò che “non muore” dentro di noi e, proprio per questo, continua a rifiorire in forme nuove. Faint Echo entra nel terreno della doppia identità: ciò che gli altri vedono e ciò che resta custodito. Parla di una parte profonda e difficile da spiegare, di un sentire intenso che può sembrare ossessione, di quella verità personale che non sempre trova un linguaggio esterno. È come se il brano dicesse: “non puoi leggermi davvero”, non per distanza, ma perché alcune cose non si mostrano, si portano. My Time Is Precious è una presa di posizione netta sul valore del tempo e dell’energia emotiva. Qui la metamorfosi passa attraverso un limite: smettere di essere presenza garantita, smettere di offrire tutto senza ricevere spazio, rispetto, reciprocità. Non è cinismo, è una forma di cura di sé che arriva dopo l’esaurimento.Sometimes torna alla frattura interna tra luce e ombra, tra “troppo” e “niente”, tra idee che bruciano e giorni in cui anche alzarsi è una montagna. È un brano che racconta la discontinuità emotiva senza teatralizzarla, lasciando emergere soprattutto l’invisibilità del crollo, quello che accade quando nessuno guarda. Nella seconda metà dell’album la tematica si sposta più chiaramente sulle relazioni e sui paradossi dell’amore. This Is the Way I Love parla di attrazione pericolosa, di verità piegate, di inseguimenti emotivi che confondono desiderio e dipendenza, mentre Boom Pow Love abita una dimensione più istintiva e luminosa, quella in cui l’amore è impulso, entusiasmo, abbandono fiducioso al presente. In mezzo, My Dilemma mette in scena il punto in cui capisci che l’altro “non è niente” eppure dentro di te continua a pesare come se fosse tutto: la lotta tra consapevolezza e attaccamento, tra la necessità di chiudere e la tentazione di riscrivere. suspended riprende e consolida l’idea del momento fragile ma vero: ciò che passa e proprio per questo lascia traccia, il coraggio di amare anche sapendo che potrebbe svanire. strange confession (Faint Echo pt.2), invece, è come una prosecuzione più diretta del tema dell’eco interiore: la confessione non come rivelazione pubblica, ma come ammissione a se stessi di essere un enigma, di avere profondità che gli altri non vedono, di restare “tempesta” anche quando fuori sembri quieta. how much… riporta al centro l’intensità emotiva come mistero personale: la capacità di sentire così tanto da spaventarsi, il desiderio di rivivere ciò che ha fatto male perché, nonostante tutto, era reale. E infine Colors chiude il cerchio con la nostalgia e l’idealizzazione: la memoria che addolcisce il dolore, che trasforma il passato in una felicità forse mai esistita davvero, mentre resta quella sensazione sottile e destabilizzante che, in fondo, “non è cambiato niente”… eppure qualcosa sì, perché guardi tutto con occhi diversi. La fan-club edition completa il progetto con una copertina alternativa e due tracce bonus re-immaginate (suspended e Strange confession). Se Metamorphosis ha un filo conduttore chiaro, è questo: la trasformazione non è sempre un evento, spesso è una somma di piccole crepe, ripetizioni, rivelazioni intime e confini finalmente messi. E in mezzo, come un simbolo costante, resta la tempesta che brilla

Before the release, the lead support single suspended arrived, accompanied by the B-side Strange confession (Faint Echo pt.2) and their respective reimagined versions. Overall, once you set aside the already familiar tracks (suspended and strange confession, along with the fan-club edition reimagined versions), there are 13 completely new, original songs. The project’s title track, Shining Storm, sets the album’s emotional tone through a striking image: a storm that shines. It’s a song about what churns beneath an apparently calm surface, about the right to be complex and contradictory, and about the quiet strength of someone who has learned to hold chaos without ever stopping to feel it. It’s a song that defends pain—even the kind others label as “overreacting”—while also asking how difficult it has become, today, to truly show up for someone without slipping into roles, polite lines, and convenient simplifications that feel easier than an uncomfortable truth. With Harmful habits, the coastal, contemplative imagery returns, but with a different aim: here the sea becomes a mental space where old beliefs resurface, memories that scratch at you, and patterns that repeat even when you desperately want to stop. It’s a track that stares straight at what “doesn’t die” inside us, and for that very reason keeps blooming again in new forms. Faint Echo steps into the territory of double identity—what others see, and what remains guarded. It speaks of a deep part of the self that’s hard to explain, of an intensity that can resemble obsession, of a personal truth that doesn’t always find an outward language. It’s as if the song is saying, “you can’t really read me,” not out of distance, but because some things aren’t shown—they’re carried. My Time Is Precious is a firm stance on the value of time and emotional energy. Here, metamorphosis comes through a boundary: no longer being the guaranteed presence, no longer giving everything without receiving space, respect, or reciprocity in return. It isn’t cynicism—it’s a form of self-care that arrives after exhaustion. Sometimes returns to the inner fracture between light and shadow, between “too much” and “nothing,” between ideas that burn and days when even getting out of bed feels like climbing a mountain. It tells emotional discontinuity without dramatizing it, letting the invisibility of the crash speak loudest—the kind that happens when no one is watching. In the second half of the album, the theme shifts more clearly toward relationships and the paradoxes of love. This Is the Way I Love deals with dangerous attraction, bent truths, and emotional chases that blur desire into dependency, while Boom Pow Love inhabits a more instinctive, luminous space, where love is impulse, excitement, and a trusting surrender to the present. In between, My Dilemma captures the moment when you realize the other person is “nothing,” yet inside you they still weigh as if they were everything: the struggle between clarity and attachment, between the need to close the door and the temptation to rewrite the story. suspended returns and reinforces the idea of the fragile but real moment—what passes and therefore leaves a mark, the courage to love even knowing it might disappear. strange confession (Faint Echo pt.2), instead, feels like a more direct continuation of the inner-echo theme: confession not as a public revelation, but as admitting to yourself that you are an enigma, that you have depths others don’t see, that you remain a “storm” even when you look quiet on the outside. how much… brings emotional intensity back to the center as a personal mystery: the ability to feel so much that it becomes frightening, the desire to relive what hurt because, despite everything, it was real. And finally, Colors closes the circle with nostalgia and idealization: memory softens pain, turns the past into a happiness that may never have truly existed, while that subtle, destabilizing feeling remains that “nothing has changed”… and yet something has, because you’re looking at everything with different eyes. The fan-club edition completes the project with an alternative cover and two reimagined bonus tracks (suspended and Strange confession). If Metamorphosis has one clear thread running through it, it’s this: transformation isn’t always an event—more often it’s a sum of small cracks, repetitions, intimate revelations, and finally drawn boundaries. And in the middle of it all, like a constant symbol, the shining storm remains.
