AURORA - Imaginative exhaustion (2023)

 

ITA: Imaginative Exhaustion è un album strumentale di dieci brani nato nel 2023 e rappresenta un nuovo punto di rottura nel mio percorso creativo. Da un lato riprende la libertà sonora di Everlasting Melody, lasciandomi guidare dal gusto e dall’ispirazione del momento; dall’altro, le tematiche emotive si avvicinano molto di più a Into the Blue. Il titolo è un riferimento esplicito a un senso di esaurimento immaginativo che, per la prima volta dopo anni, ha iniziato a farsi sentire. Creare musica con Magix Music Maker non mi dava più la stessa gioia. Sentivo di scivolare di nuovo verso quel “blue” che mi aveva già inghiottita in passato. Questa atmosfera è chiaramente percepibile nel suono: l’album si apre con brani più luminosi e progressivamente si fa sempre più cupo e malinconico. La scelta dell’ordine delle tracce non è casuale: volevo che l’ascoltatore attraversasse la stessa discesa emotiva che stavo vivendo mentre componevo. Confusione, amarezza, tristezza e il bisogno urgente di cercare qualcosa di nuovo si intrecciano musicalmente in tutto il lavoro. Anche la copertina riflette questo immaginario. È volutamente in bianco e nero. Il mare ritorna come simbolo di quel “blue” di cui ho spesso parlato, e una donna di spalle sembra sul punto di scomparire tra le onde. Quella figura rappresenta la mia parte artistica, che teme di essere inghiottita. C’è però un dettaglio significativo: l’ultimo brano del disco, Trouble Maker, è volutamente più giocoso e positivo rispetto al resto dell’album. La sua nascita coincide più o meno con il momento in cui ho scoperto l’esistenza di Suno. In un certo senso, rappresenta la prima scintilla di qualcosa di nuovo, emersa proprio alla fine di un periodo di esaurimento creativo.

ENG: Imaginative Exhaustion is a ten-track instrumental album released in 2023, representing a new breaking point in my creative journey. On one hand, it returns to the sonic freedom of Everlasting Melody, allowing myself to be guided by personal taste and momentary inspiration; on the other, its emotional themes resonate much more closely with Into the Blue. The title is an explicit reference to a sense of imaginative exhaustion that, for the first time in years, began to make itself felt. Creating music with Magix Music Maker no longer gave me the same joy. I felt myself slipping once again toward that “blue” that had already swallowed me in the past. This atmosphere is clearly reflected in the sound: the album opens with brighter tracks and gradually becomes darker and more melancholic. The order of the tracks is intentional — I wanted the listener to experience the same emotional descent I was going through while composing. Confusion, bitterness, sadness, and an urgent need to search for something new intertwine musically throughout the project. The cover artwork also reflects this imagery. It is deliberately in black and white. The sea returns as a symbol of that “blue” I have often spoken about, and a woman seen from behind appears on the verge of disappearing into the waves. That figure represents my artistic self, fearing being swallowed. There is, however, a significant detail: the final track of the album, Trouble Maker, is intentionally more playful and positive than the rest of the record. Its creation roughly coincided with the moment I discovered the existence of Suno. In a way, it represents the first spark of something new emerging at the very end of a period of creative exhaustion.
