AURORA - An inconvenient truth (2016)

 

ITA: Non è un caso che il disco successivo a Into the Blue, uscito nel 2016 e intitolato An Inconvenient Truth, sia un mini-album strumentale composto da soli sei brani. Ricordo che quella frase mi colpì così tanto da decidere di usarla come titolo del progetto, nonostante nessuna traccia porti quel nome. Stavo ancora cercando di riprendermi dalla sensazione di “blue” che avevo attraversato. Anche se avevo capito di non poter contare sulla mia voce, sentivo comunque il bisogno di creare, sperimentare e, soprattutto, esprimermi. Questo disco nasce come un punto di rialzo: una risposta a quel blue che mi aveva trascinato a fondo. Sia il titolo sia la copertina non sono casuali. An Inconvenient Truth rappresenta la mia “scomoda verità”: il desiderio ostinato di continuare a fare musica, anche mentre facevo i conti con la delusione legata alla mia voce. L’albero raffigurato in copertina simboleggia proprio questo: il bisogno di creare era già radicato dentro di me, come le radici di un albero. Un desiderio difficile da estirpare, nonostante tutto. Sono molto legata a questo lavoro anche per la presenza di Piano, un brano che si discosta completamente dal resto del disco. È una ballad suonata al pianoforte da me, semplice ma speciale: l’ho composta interamente ad orecchio, dato che non ho mai imparato a leggere le note o uno spartito. 

ENG: It is no coincidence that the album following Into the Blue, released in 2016 and titled An Inconvenient Truth, is a six-track instrumental mini album. I remember being so struck by that phrase that I decided to use it as the title of the project, even though none of the tracks actually carry that name. I was still trying to recover from the “blue” I had gone through. Even though I had realized I couldn’t rely on my voice, I still felt the need to create, to experiment, and above all, to express myself. This record was born as a turning point — a response to that blue that had pulled me under. Neither the title nor the cover are accidental. An Inconvenient Truth represents my own “inconvenient truth”: the stubborn desire to continue making music, even while confronting the disappointment I felt about my voice. The tree depicted on the cover symbolizes exactly that — the need to create was already rooted within me, like the roots of a tree. A desire difficult to uproot, despite everything. I am deeply attached to this project, also because of the track Piano, which stands apart from the rest of the album. It is a simple yet special piano ballad played by me: I composed it entirely by ear, as I never learned to read musical notes or sheet music.
